About ICI

   Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) is the premier professional body for concrete technology with above 15,000 members from 48 centers spread across India. It has on its fold the captains of construction industry. Building material manufacturers. Leading consultants & Civil engineers, contractors, Academicians and Educational Institutions. ICI was founded in 1982 with its headquarter at Chennai. The objectives of ICI are to promote growth of concrete construction and its sub-specializations, disseminate knowledge and to train personnel, collaborate with national and international agencies in creating better understanding of concrete construction technology , to identify R&D issues, encourage outstanding achievements in concrete construction technology through its institutional awards etc., ICI organizes Periodical seminars, conferences , workshop & exhibitions on the subject and arranges lecture series on selected topics of relevant to concrete construction.ICI has collaborative with American concrete institute, Asian Concrete federation, Singapore concrete institution, Concrete institute of Australia etc,. ICI publishes Quarterly journal containing Peer- Reviewed technical papers, Technical Abstracts about 40 Journals. ICI has also brought out a number of publications & Monographs on various related topics.

About ICI Salem Centre

   ICI (Salem) Centre has its inception in the year 2015. It has more than 80 life members, 12 Student Chapters and Institutional Members. ICI(Salem) is now becoming one of an merging centres of ICI, which has conducted Seminars, Workshops and guest lecture for professional Engineers, Students in Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri district ICI (Salem) is celebrating Concrete Day in association with UltraTech Cements Ltd every year to mark the founding day of ICI. During this event, annual awards are conferred to outstanding concrete structures for residential, utility, commercial buildings, Structures with green building concept, Best Students’ Chapter and Best M.E/M.Tech and Ph D thesis (concrete). Centre has also honored life time achievement and vocational excellence award for Architects and Engineers who have rendered their service to the engineering fraternity and Society as well.

MEC – ICI Students Chapter

   The ICI students chapter was inaugurated in the department of civil engineering on 22.07.2015. Under ICI students chapter various technical events like poster presentation, paper presentation, technical talk, model making, role play etc was conducted to enhance the technical skills of the ICI student members. Various events like workshops, seminars, guest lecturers code cracking, cube test and mix design are organized under ICI students chapter inviting professionals from various fields of civil engineering. Industrial site visit both local and outstation is arranged for ICI students to improve the technical skills in a practical manner. The ICI students chapter is functioning effectively and more than 400 students are active members in this students chapter and 9 of our department faculty members have life time membership in ICI.

   The ICI students chapter of Civil Engineering department has received the “BEST STUDENTS CHAPTER APPRECIATION AWARD” from ICI Salem Centre during 2016. In 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2023 we received the “BEST STUDENTS CHAPTER AWARD” from ICI Salem Centre. Our PG student received the “Best PG Thesis Award “in the year 2021 and 2022.
