Engineering Graduates will be able to:

  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

  • Department is recognized as Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai and produced 05 Ph.D. degree holders in last 3 years; More than 16 research scholars are currently involving in collaborative research and for pursuing Full Time / Part Time Ph.D.
  • Three faculty members have been approved as research supervisor for guiding Ph.D scholars.
  • Department provisionally NBA accredited for three years 2022-2023 to 2024-2025 valid upto30-06-2025.
  • More than 80 students and faculty members have been trained through LabVIEW Academy. 77 students and 05 faculty members were Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) examination conducted by National Instruments, Bangalore. Best Performing LabVIEW Academy for year 2017 won by our students and faculty members team.
  • NPTEL Local Chapter is established for students and faculty members appearing for NPTEL courses online examinations.
  • Faculty members have published 2 Text Books and 280 Technical Papers in the last four academic years.
  • Faculty members serve as Faculty Advisors for IEEE, ISTE, and IETE (ISF) chapters. One faculty member received the Best Academic Performer Award – 2017 from IETE. Additionally, two faculty members were honored with the Best Faculty Award by IE(I), Hosur local center in April 2025.
  • Undertaken students’ projects funded by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science & Technology, Chennai.
  • Our Students have undergone Internship in various Government / reputed Private Industries / Organizations.
  • The department organized an ATAL-sponsored international conference and published 28 technical research papers.
  • IEEE hardware project design contests have been conducted frequently. Many intra/inter college students have been active participating and bagging cash prizes
  • Three Centers of Excellence, namely VLSI Cadence Innovation Hub, Autoelectronics in association with Haritha Techserv and NI LABview academy have been established and more than 300 students have been benefited.
  • All the students are undergoing skill development programmes like soft skills, communication skills, aptitude and logical reasoning, group discussions and technical interview skills
  • IITB – Remote centre for training the faculty members and students. Department has trained more than 350 faculty members and students in latest technologies though IIT, Bombay Remote Centre

VLSI Cadence Innovation HUB

Entuple TechnologiesA Centre for Cadence Innovation HUB has been established at the MEC campus with the support of Entuple Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. This centre enables students and faculty members to gain expertise in VLSI design, including digital and analog circuit simulation. The expected outcome of the centre is to enhance students technical knowledge and employability skills in the VLSI domain, thereby bridging the gap between academia and industry. A significant highlight of the CoE is the hands-on training with advanced Cadence tools such as NC Launch, Genus, and Innovus for digital design and verification

Harita TechservHarita Techserv – Auto Electronics signed an MoU with Mahendra for setting up an Auto Electronics Centre of Excellence on 11.12.2024. The main objective is to advance research, innovation, skill development, and industry collaboration in the field of automotive electronics by providing state-of-the-art facilities, expert training, and applied research opportunities to students and faculty members. The goal is to foster technological excellence and support the evolving needs of the automotive sector. Around 60 students have been trained, and more than 16 students have been placed in reputed companies based on this tie-up.

  • Mahendra Engineering College jointly with National Instruments (India) has set up MEC-NI LabVIEW Academy for Mahendra Educational Institutions.
  • This Academy is an initiative of NI under their Planet NI (Nurturing Innovation) framework which strives to increase the employability of Indian engineering graduates by creating ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Engineering Colleges and Universities which will provide cost effective access to world class latest technology through classroom teaching-learning.
  • The LabVIEW Academy is an acclaimed ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 29990:2010 certified training centre to provide hands on training in LabVIEW for engineering students, faculty and industrial personnel in south India.
  • The Academy also provides facilities for students to carry out their under graduate and post graduate projects. The Academy is actively involved in conducting short-term training courses for faculty and students from various engineering colleges. The centre has highly skilled Faculty/Engineers duly trained by National Instruments, India and certified by National Instruments, US under ‘Train the Trainer’ program to conduct the classes under these training programs at the centre.
