The department of Computer Science and Engineering was established during the inception of the institute in the year 1995 with the intake of 60 to produce competent engineers in the field of Computer Science and Engineering.

  • The department of Computer Science and Engineering was established during the inception of the institute in the year 1995 with the intake of 60 to produce competent engineers in the field of Computer Science and Engineering.
  • The student intake was increased from 150 to 180 in the academic year 2021 – 2022
  • The student intake was increased from 120 to 150 in the academic year 2020 – 2021
  • The student intake was increased from 90 to 120 in the academic year 2006 – 2007
  • The student intake was increased from 60 to 90 in the academic year 2001 – 2002
  • The department offers postgraduate degree programme of M.E Computer Science and Engineering from the academic year 2001-2002. The department has excellent and consistent placement record and most of the eligible students are placed in reputed organizations.
  • Both UG and PG Programme are Permanent Affiliations approved by Anna University, Chennai.
  • Department provisionally NBA accredited for three years 2022-2023 to 2024-2025
  • The department faculties have good number of publications and sponsored R&D projects
  • The CSE Department has been recognized as a collaborative research centre by Anna University, Chennai.
  • Sophisticated and latest software have been purchased to enable the faculty as well as students to pursue their research / project works.
  • Headed by an experienced Professor and supported by 38 dedicated faculty members inclusive of 13Doctorates and Visiting Professor. All the faculty members are Post Graduate and above and 8 faculty members are pursuing research.
  • Most of the faculty members are members of professional bodies like ISTE, IE(I), CSI, etc. and are actively participating in the various activities of professional bodies

Credentials of the Department

  • The department is recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai, and has produced more than 13 doctoral graduates over the past three years. Currently, 24 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D.
  • Three faculty members have been approved as research supervisors for guiding Ph.D./M.S. candidates.
  • Thirteen faculty members have completed their doctoral degrees, and eight are currently pursuing them.
  • Faculty members have published 3 books, 2 book chapters, and 168 research papers.
  • The department received a grant of 67,500 for conducting the Faculty Development Program on the Salesforce Platform Developer, organized by MEITY and ICT Academy for the academic year 2024–2025.
  • Dr. M. Kannan has successfully met the requirements to be recognized as a 2025 Red Hat Academy Program Educator.
  • Dr. S. G. Balakrishnan, Dr. P. Ramya, Ms. R. Kiruthika, and Ms. K. Rajeswari were recognized as NPTEL Discipline Stars during the January–April 2025 session under the NPTEL Star Awards.

  • Mahendra Engineering College was awarded for 100 student completions during Learnathon (August–October 2023).
  • Dr. K. Gowsic and Dr. K. Venkatasalam filed a patent titled “Secure Blockchain Technology Through Machine Learning Algorithm in Botnet” (KAPILA – IN10072).
  • Dr. S. G. Balakrishnan and Ms. K. Rajeswari were recognized for their role in the Honeywell Student Empowerment Program organized by Honeywell and ICT Academy on 11.08.2023.

  • Dr. B. Kalaiselvi received the “Outstanding Faculty Award” for contributions to Biomedical Engineering on 30th April 2023 in Vellore.
  • Dr. M. Kannan received the “Best Researcher CST Achiever’s Award” in Chennai in November 2022.
  • Dr. S. G. Balakrishnan was honored as a Reviewer for Springer CCIS at Ganpat University, Gujarat, in February 2022.

  • Infosys Spring board initiative was aimed at deepening the industry-academia bonds and building a strong foundation for the future needs of both academia and the growing IT industry.
  • Certificates will be issued jointly by the Infosys and Mahendra Engineering College to the students on their successful completion of the training

  • By offering free, accessible resources and partnering with educational institutions, Infosys aims to bridge the skills gap and prepare students for the evolving job market.

TCSiON

TCSiON has entered into infrastructural tie-up with Mahendra Institutions. TCS ion has accredited the infrastructure of Mahendra Institutions as one of the best and has successfully conducted national level online exams for public sector and private sector organization of repute. Many students have attended these exams at Mahendra Institutions till date. Parents and students both have commended the infrastructure and facilities provided to them by Mahendra Institutions.

ICT Academy

With training of teachers and students as the primary objective, ICT Academy has been working through a seven pillar program in the areas of Faculty Development, Student Skill Development, Entrepreneurship Development, Youth Empowerment, Industry-Institute Interaction, Digital Empowerment and Research & Publications.

Oracle

Oracle Work Development Program (WDP) has started advanced value added training program in Oracle Work Development Program for the benefits of the students. The objective of this program is to enable students to have Oracle authorized training at low cost. WDP exposes the students to Oracle University courseware and CD’s during the training program, this also helps the students to get awarded with certificates which are clear differentiators from their peers, when looking for jobs. These training which are conducted under WDP, leads the students to oracle certification. “These certificates (OCP) are treated as standards in the industry and help the students to get better placements in future”

VMware

VMware designed the IT Academy Program to introduce students to VMware technologies and equip them with VMware technical skills to complement their chosen fields of study. VMware provides course materials developed by VMware and students may obtain the VMware Certified Associate, Professional and Advanced Professional which could enable employment in firms seeking skilled workers in virtualization and cloud computing.

The Palo Alto Networks Authorized Academy Center is established which supports our faculty and students to learn Network product knowledge and Network Security Concepts.

AWS Educate

Our Department has registered with AWS Educate membership which enables us to use Amazon Web Services in their courses and projects. It initiative to provide students and educators with the resources needed to greatly accelerate cloud-related learning and help students prepare for a cloud- enabled workplace. It collaboration tools such as an events page and credits to access AWS services for free and discount for AWS training resources

Red Hat Academy

Under the Program, Red Hat provides Partner an Internet deployed and managed Curriculum, Software, and Services and Partner provides the facilities and Teachers and delivers the Courses to Students as set forth in this Appendix. Capitalized terms not defined in this Appendix shall have the meaning given to them in the Partner Agreement between the parties, including the Partner Terms and Conditions.

Ui Path

Under the program, UiPath enters into partnerships with universities, educational institutes, high schools or governmental educational authorities for the purpose of raising awareness, promoting and providing resources for enabling robotic process automation software courses, trainings and any other educational programs.
