About the Department
- The department of Computer Science and Engineering was established during the inception of the institute in the year 1995 with the intake of 60 to produce competent engineers in the field of Computer Science and Engineering
- The student intake was increased from 60 to 90 in the academic year 2001 – 2002
- The student intake was increased from 90 to 120 in the academic year 2006 – 2007
- The student intake was increased from 120 to 150 in the academic year 2020 – 2021
- The student intake was increased from 150 to 180 in the academic year 2021 – 2022
- The department offers postgraduate degree programme of M.E Computer Science and Engineering from the academic year 2001-2002. The department has excellent and consistent placement record and most of the eligible students are placed in reputed organizations.
- Both UG and PG Programme are Permanent Affiliations approved by Anna University, Chennai.
- Department provisionally NBA accredited for three years 2022-2023 to 2024-2025valid upto30-06-2025.
- The department faculties have good number of publications and sponsored R&D projects
- The CSE Department has been recognized as a collaborative research centre by Anna University, Chennai.
- Sophisticated and latest software have been purchased to enable the faculty as well as students to pursue their research / project works.
- Headed by an experienced Professor and supported by 37 dedicated faculty members inclusive of 7 Doctorates and Visiting Professor. All the faculty members are Post Graduate and above and 6 faculty members are pursuing research.
- Most of the faculty members are members of professional bodies like ISTE, IE(I), CSI, etc. and are actively participating in the various activities of professional bodies.

- Cloud Literacy Day program had organized in association with ICT Academy and Amazon on 29.10.2018 and our college achieved 3rd place in National Level winner and 2nd place in State Level winner and the same has been awarded at Bridge'19, ICT Academy at Chennai on 31st January 2019.
- Dr.M.KANNAN received Tech Savvy Academicians in Higher Education Across India Award by Academic council of ulektz, Outstanding Performance in UiPath Academic Challenge. He was also recognized as Top Performance Mentors Award by NPTEL in 2019.

- Our department had organized “ICMR Sponsored Workshop on Challenges Of Dengue & Its Analytics Using Big Data” on 12.007.18 & 13.07.18.
- 3 Faculty members of our department received Inspire faculty partnership awards in July 2016 and 7 Faculty members received Inspire faculty partnership awards in August 2017 from Infosys Ltd, Bangalore.
- Dr.M.Kannan, Professor of our department has been selected as Evaluation Committee Member for the Honourable chief minister Award of excellence to students in Tamil Nadu e-governance to students in 2016.
- Department has received the Partner Excellence Award for active participation and implementation of VMware IT Academy initiatives during the academic year 2016-2017.
- 3 Students participated in the RA council IET’ 16 state level project contest and got Best performing institution award
- Undertaken students’ projects funded by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science & Technology, Chennai.
- 1 team got selected for grand finale and participated in the MHRD, AICTE, Inter Institutional Inclusive Innovation Center (i4C), and Persistent Systems organized Smart India Hackathon 2017 at Mumbai in Atomic Energy Department and got participant certificate.
- Department organized National Level MaAPpTHON (Mahendra App Hackathon) on 2017 and more than 25 teams are participated from various colleges like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh,etc.
- Department organized Salesforce Trailhead Students Championship – Learnathon on 2018 and more than 100 students are participated. Our institution got best outstanding performance award from ICT Academy.
- Department organized three IEEE Conferences and published more than hundred quality technical research papers in IEEE Explore

- NPTEL Local Chapter is established for students and faculty members appearing for NPTEL courses online examinations. Our chapter positioned 38th in the 2017-18 out of 217 active local chapter institutions.

Infosys Technologies Limited
MOU was signed between Infosys Technologies Limited and Mahendra
Engineering College on 27.2.2006 for the purpose of enriching the
Technical Education process and to jointly work for enhancing the
quality of education imparted to students of all the engineering
disciplines in the field of Information Technology. 1049 students'
of
various departments Certified by Infosys campus connect Soft skills.
To improve the soft-skill talents such as communication, behavior,
in
the students the department has organized Soft-skill training
program
through INFOSYS CAMPUS CONNENT. All the final year students and
pre-final students of the college have participated in the program.
The
trainers from Infosys trained various department students to improve
their soft skills and technical skills.
TCSiON
TCSiON has entered into infrastructural tie-up with Mahendra
Institutions.
TCS ion has accredited the infrastructure of Mahendra Institutions
as
one of the best and has successfully conducted national level online
exams for public sector and private sector organization of repute.
Many
students have attended these exams at Mahendra Institutions till
date.
Parents and students both have commended the infrastructure and

differentiators from their peers, when looking for jobs.

which
supports our faculty and students to learn Network product knowledge
and
Network Security Concepts.
AWS Educate
Our Department has registered with AWS Educate membership which
enables
us to use Amazon Web Services in their courses and projects. It
initiative to provide students and educators with the resources
needed
to greatly accelerate cloud-related learning and help students
prepare
for a cloud-enabled workplace. It collaboration tools such as an
events
page and credits to access AWS services for free and discount for
AWS
training resources
Red Hat Academy
Under the Program, Red Hat provides Partner an Internet deployed and
managed Curriculum, Software, and Services and Partner provides the
facilities and Teachers and delivers the Courses to Students as set
forth in this Appendix. Capitalized terms not defined in this
Appendix
shall have the meaning given to them in the Partner Agreement
between
the parties, including the Partner Terms and Conditions.
Under the program, UiPath enters into partnerships with
universities,
educational institutes, high schools or governmental educational
authorities for the purpose of raising awareness, promoting and
providing resources for enabling robotic process automation software
courses, trainings and any other educational programs.
