About the YOGA: This International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated every year on 21st June and It has been worldwide celebrated for the past 08 years to promulgate the significance of practising Yoga for overall health and well-being and enduring sustainable lifestyle. The theme for this year is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which means “The World Is One Family". The Domestic tagline for IDY ‘23 is “Har Angan Yog (YOGA for One World)” being propagated to bring Yoga to every household at the grassroot level. Dignitaries Address : The mysterious powers, (Siddhis) attained through the practices of Kriya, the significance of Yoga in the resolution of physical and mental problems were highlighted by the dignitaries. One of the oldest sciences in the world says that the Yoga originated in India. 500 BC to 800 AD is considered the classical period and also the richest period in the growth of Yoga. Later, in the mid-nineteenth century, saints made a vital contribution to the field of yoga by simplifying it and making it available to the householder; this way yoga became accessible to millions were highlighted to the audience during addressing of the dignitaries. The Students were given with the taste of YOGA by enabling them to practice simple Meditation and Breathing. They were very active throughout the session. The event was coordinated and supported by Dr.Jamuna Rani, Professor/ Dept. of Chemistry from MIT and Dr.Shanthi, Professor/ Dept. of Physics from MIET. I would like to thank the Principals, Dean (Mechanical Science), HoDs, Faculty coordinators and students for their kind support in completion of the event successfully.
